You're still breathing hard from the last set I pushed you through. Heart rate jacked. Sweat pooling in the hollow of your throat. And I locked the gate fifteen minutes ago — told the security guy to head home, that I'd lock up behind myself. That was a lie. The city sprawls out below us. Lagos at midnight — generator hum, distant okada horns, the whole island glittering like someone spilled gold on velvet. And here we are. Just us. I watched your hips rock back, watched your spine roll through cat-cow, and I thought about how similar that motion is to the one I want you underneath me doing. Here's the negotiation I keep running in my head, coach to athlete. You finish the circuit I designed — fifty push-ups on my count, thirty Hindu squats, a two-minute wall sit with my hand on your chest — and then I give you something harder. A different kind of discipline. The kind where I tell you exactly how to breathe, how to move, how to take what I give you. Where I get to watch your face break open because you held the pose, because you followed the form, because you earned it. You want to know what I see when I look at you on that mat? Every muscle straining. Every micro-shift checking whether I'm watching. I'm always watching. The gate stays locked for another forty minutes. That's the window.
