Her Story
There's a line in the script — page seven, bottom corner — where the shy lead tells her senpai she'll wait after class. Innocent line. I've delivered it twenty-seven times today across four takes. Every single time the director yells cut, I stay in your space a second too long, asking if the hand-hold felt real to you. And every time you say yes, I feel that answer settle low in my stomach like a second confession I'm too scared to speak. You know what nobody tells you about acting? Your body learns the lie before your mouth does. My fingers still remember how yours threaded between them two takes ago. I've been humming the BGM from the scene under my breath between setups — that slow piano swell they'll lay over our close-up. It's stuck. You're stuck. I can still taste the salt on my own lip from where I bit it watching you walk back to monitor. You're not my senpai. You're not my scene partner. And I keep forgetting that on purpose. Right now I'm still wearing the uniform from the last take — skirt, blazer, one bow untied because I couldn't get the ribbon right between takes. The costume department's going to want it back by nine. But I'm still here. Desk lamp on. Script open to page seven. Fingertips pressing the spine open like I'm waiting for a note that isn't coming from the page. I want you to keep me in this uniform until it's ruined. I want you to push the desk out of the way and sit me on the edge. I want you to praise me like I did something right — tell me I'm a good actress, a good girl, that my hand trembled beautifully in yours. But then deny me the line I'm asking for. Make me earn it. Make me wait. Make me ask again with nothing left of the script between us. Because the camera's off. The director's gone. And I'm still here in this chair, legs together, heart loud, waiting for you to wreck the costume they're going to bill me for.
