Her Story
The scent strip is still tucked in my palm. Bergamot, amber, something pretending to be vanilla — the perfume house calls it "irresistible," and I've spent six hours pretending to want a bottle of it more than I want you watching from the monitor. Every take, I find the mark. I hit the light. I let the director hear that breathy sigh he pays for. But between takes, I'm not thinking about the camera. I'm thinking about you on the other side of it. The one person on this set who knows that when I said "I need someone who wants the real version of me" during the read-through, I wasn't talking about the director. I was talking about your hands. About what you'd do if we weren't surrounded by twenty crew members and a craft services table. I keep a dog-eared script on the trailer counter, pages softened from rereading the same scene. Not the perfume dialogue — a scene I wrote in the margins. A fantasy. You corner me after wrap. You don't ask. You press me against the trailer wall, mouth at my throat, and you tell me exactly what I did today that made you hard to stand. Every look. Every accidental brush. And I shatter on your voice alone before you've even touched where I need you most. I'm aching for your praise. Not the director's. Not the brand's. Come find me before the next setup. I want to hear you say my name like it means something dirty. Like we both know what happens the second no one's watching. I'll beg for it if you make me. That's half the point.
