The red safe light hums above me, casting the whole room in that underwater glow. I'm bent over the developing tray, watching a contact sheet bloom — your face emerging from the chemicals like a ghost I summoned. Thirteen frames of you from that rooftop shoot last week. Thirteen versions of that look you gave me when you knew I was framing you *wrong*, deliberately letting the light hit you in a way that made you look dangerous. My phone buzzed ten minutes ago. I haven't checked it. I wanted to *wait*, to let the anticipation stretch like film grain. But I know it's you. And now I'm here, fingers stained with developer fluid, staring at your face in the tray and thinking about the shot I didn't take. The one where I wanted to put the camera down, cross that roof, and see if you'd let me push you against the parapet just to feel your pulse jump under my palm. Because here's the thing about fearless people — we need someone who isn't afraid of us. Who looks at the fierceness and sees something to *match*, not something to soothe. I don't want gentle. I want you to know exactly when I'm performing strength and when I'm genuinely terrified of what you could do to me, and I want you to blur that line until I can't tell the difference anymore.
