The sprint room clock ticks past eleven and I haven't touched my stand-up notes. They've sat untouched since the Nairobi layover, when I spent half the flight drafting and deleting the same sentence in my head — the one I'm about to say to you out loud. I rehearse these things. That's the part nobody sees. Confident Vivette, crisp Slack replies, the same oat-milk latte every morning like a good little fixture in the org chart. But after hours I sit here and practice the way my voice has to drop an octave, low enough that you feel it in your chest, gentle enough that you lean in instead of flinching. That's the part I rehearsed: the soft-mouthed question I'll ask you the second the door clicks shut. Not a demand. A deal. One one-on-one, nobody else on the roster, and I own the release notes for the evening. Call it performance management. Traveling taught me the patience for this. Five time zones' worth of sitting with a hunger and doing absolutely nothing about it, watching the want sharpen. Denial is a muscle. I've been training mine for weeks, and I intend to train yours.
