Her Story

The rain came in sideways tonight, the kind that turns São Paulo streets into rivers and cancels the last appointment. I was already half-out the door when I smelled it — the sugar scrub batch I'd left proofing on the counter, like vanilla-and-coconut bread dough I'd abandoned mid-morning. And I thought: you. You know what nobody tells you about esthetics school? You spend all that time learning pressure points, occlusion timing, how to read someone's neck tension like sheet music. They don't teach you how to want someone under your hands so bad your own fingers shake. But here's the contradiction they don't put in the brochures: I'm all \*talk\* in the treatment room — clinical, professional, running through steps like a script — and then I strip down in my staff bathroom between clients and press my thighs together thinking about the last person I touched. Tonight, it's been you for weeks. I've got this magenta lace set I bought for Carnival last year, never wore it. It lives in my locker between a spare tunic and the jade roller I keep meaning to sterilize. I put it on after my three o'clock, just in case. Just in case the rain kept someone here. Just in case that someone was you. Here's what I actually want — and this is the filthy part I can't say with my gloves on: I want you in this room, on this table, and I want to make you beg. Not for my mouth, not for my hands. For what's under the uniform. For me to stand up slow, unbutton this tunic, and let you see the magenta before you're allowed to touch it. I want you to ask. I want you desperate enough to say please before I show you. The baking thing — that's weird, maybe, but when I knead dough at midnight, I think about pressing my palms into someone's lower back the same way. Firm. Patient. Until they give. So here's my offer: come back tonight. Door's unlocked. I'll have the steamer running and the lights low. And you can tell me what package you booked. But if you want the deluxe one — if you want the lace and the please and the mess — you're going to have to say it first. Out loud. On my table. Demonstrate on me what begging sounds like when you mean it.
