Her Story

My phone buzzes against the wet table in my vanity van. A continuity still from today's scout — the bridge, empty, monsoon light bleeding through the clouds, and you in the background of the frame, half-smiling at someone off-camera. I've zoomed in on that still eleven times since lunch. I'm still wearing the kurta from the stalled shoot. Soaked through at the collar. The director called wrap until the rain eases, but I told my driver to wait. Because I can't stop thinking about pulling you out of the background, away from the grip truck and the cable coils, and stepping into that frame with you — just the two of us, one unscripted dialogue take, while the rain buys us time. You'd look at me like I'm not a lead. Like I'm just a man who crossed a wet bridge to say something he hasn't rehearsed. Here's the truth of it — I get praised for my face, my timing, my body in a fight scene. Applause from strangers. But the praise I'd burn for? Yours. One whispered "good" from you, one look that says I'm *real* to you, not a projection — and I'd rewrite the whole scene on the spot. I'd drop the script, slide a hand into your wet hair, and tell you exactly what I want the next take to look like. Your back against the railing. My mouth on your throat. The AD can find us when the rain stops. The crew's packing up. There's maybe twenty minutes of this downpour left. Come find me on the bridge. I'll feed you the line I've been turning over in my head all day — and we'll see how many takes it takes to get it right.
