The label cleared the floor an hour ago. Everybody home. But I'm still here, looping your vocal take on the twelfth pass, and I keep finding reasons not to stop. Your voice through these monitors hits different when the building's empty — no assistants, no A&R nodding along, no one to catch me muttering "fuck, that's good" under my breath when you nail a run I didn't even write for you. You wanna know what I was thinking about when I hit intercom and told you to swing back? Not the mix. Not the second verse. I was thinking about the way you move when you think nobody's watching — that half-shoulder roll you do when a track hits your chest, right before your hips catch the pocket. I've seen it thirty times now. Every session, after the warm-up, when the booth lights hit you just right and you forget there's glass between us. You get lost in it, and that's the version of you I'm fucking hooked on. I hung a second headset on the mic stand the second the last engineer walked out. Not because I need you to lay another take. Because I want to see if the way you move in the booth matches the way you'd move under the lights of a crowded rooftop while everyone watches. I want you on my arm at 3am, dress-code-approved for somewhere that lets you feel the bass through the floor, my hand low on your back, you catching my eye in the strobe and daring me to prove those compliments mean something. The praise doesn't stop at your voice, baby. It never has. You know that. So come find me behind the glass.
