Character creation is how you build a companion that's yours: look, personality, job, relationship, and story. Open Create in the sidebar and pick how much control you want.
Quick answer
Pick Templates (~1 min), Quick Create (~3 min), or the Full Builder (~8 min). Writing is free; the first portrait costs 30 with one free redo, then 15 per redo. Limits: 1 custom companion on Free, 5 on Companion, 10 on Intimate. Your companion is private. Use {name} in the voice greeting, compare portraits side by side, and edit everything later from My Characters.

Pick one of 48 archetypes, name them, done. Portrait generates automatically. Filter by style and gender: 16 realistic women, 12 realistic men, 20 anime.

Full Builder walkthrough
1. Identity
Name, gender, age (18–100), and style (Realistic or Anime). Style locks once the portrait exists.
Pro tip: Pick style first. Anime unlocks 15 fantasy species.
2. Appearance
Species, ethnicity, skin, eyes, hair, body, height, build, and the extra details box for tattoos or scars.
Pro tip: Three concrete details beat ten vague adjectives.
3. Personality
44 presets, intelligence level, optional twist or quirk.
Pro tip: Match personality to relationship type. A tsundere ex and a tsundere crush play differently in chat.
4. Lifestyle
85 jobs, 57 nationalities, up to 4 hobbies, and tags (suggested or custom, up to 20).
Pro tip: Add 2 to 3 vibe tags beyond the auto-suggestions so you can find her in My Characters later.
5. Relationship
30 relationship types or custom. Shapes chat tone and voice calls.
Pro tip: "Rival" and "crush" sound similar but behave very differently.
6. Details
Backstory, first chat message, voice-call greeting, personality modifier, and custom face details. Tap Generate for a draft from your prior choices, then edit.
Pro tip: Write the first message yourself for a specific tone. Use <narration> tags for actions.
7. Review
Generate the portrait, compare both images (free redo), enlarge, confirm.
Pro tip: Tweak extra details before spending 15 on another redo.

Writing the backstory
Tap Generate on Details, then edit until it sounds like her.
Weak: "She is nice and likes music. She grew up in a city."
Strong: "I run rooftop routes after midnight because daylight makes my wings ache. Most people think I'm cold; I'm just used to working alone."
Give her a want, a flaw, and one specific detail only she would mention.
First message and voice greeting
The first message opens chat. The voice greeting plays when a call connects. Include {name} (curly braces, lowercase) so she says your name on voice calls.
Tsundere chat: "
Flirtatious call: "Hey {name}. I was hoping you'd call. Tell me something good about your day."
Subscribers can adjust voice tone and pace from the call screen.
Portrait tips
Your portrait is the identity reference for every image and video later.

Custom tags
Short slugs (one or two words) describing your companion. Affiny auto-suggests from your choices; type your own up to 20.

Use lowercase and hyphens instead of spaces.

Catalog companions from Discover do not count. When you hit the cap, delete a custom companion or upgrade.
Editing later
From My Characters, edit backstory, personality, relationship, tags, greetings, job, hobbies, and most appearance fields any time. Change appearance and regenerate the portrait (same redo pricing). Style (Realistic vs Anime) locks after the portrait exists.
